Our Houston office has seen the demand for construction and property workers sky-rocket due to the continued development of the downtown area. New additions to the Houston team, both locally from the US and from overseas, have had a significant impact to how we’re servicing employers hiring needs across the city. One of our new recruits, Sarah Green, joined the Houston office after spending almost four years staffing temporary construction and property roles in the UK.
Sarah quickly immersed herself into the region, specializing in recruiting for Site Managers/Superintendents. Sarah says “The transition was such an enjoyable experience. The unparalleled support and training, as well as the wealth of experience my colleagues have around me, makes it a motivating and inspiring place to come to work. In under a year, I’ve become a better recruiter than I ever thought I could be.” Sarah has adapted and applied all of the new training and recruitment methodology to the US market and is reaping the rewards. Within three months of her arrival in Houston she had already beaten her own personal best in fees.
Due to the sheer size of the market in Houston, we require a larger recruiting team, consisting of many different levels of experience, recruitment styles, and personalities. Sarah said she takes great pride in self-improvement and learning things from her colleagues to enhance her own recruitment style, so the fit in Houston was perfect. She explains “my colleagues are certainly experts in what they do and are very passionate about their own success, as well as building up everyone in the team”.
Outside of the office, Sarah says there’s never a dull moment, she is always meeting interesting and diverse people within the Houston area. “I have already seen so much of the United States in less than a year of being here, and I have trips planned to New York, Miami, New Orleans, Florida, and Boston…all funded by my commission!”
Sarah shares “the amount of money you can make as well as the experience and knowledge you will gain as a recruiter at Hays makes it a phenomenal career choice.” Sarah has been extremely happy with her move to Houston, “my advice, if you’re looking to make the move to the US to work for Hays; do it!”

The large tech workforce within the city coupled with employer hiring needs makes NYC a perfect location for IT recruitment networking opportunities.
The IT market is primed to expand further in the US. The majority of employers surveyed in our What Employers Want guide expect an increase in business activity due to demand for several key projects including security, cloud technology, and business intelligence. Employers are willing to pay top dollar for job seekers that can demonstrate the necessary technical skills. From over 300 employers surveyed, over 80% said they will be hiring within the next 3 to 6 months
Because of the constant changes in technology, there has been an increase in bootcamps, training courses, and certification programs. One organization, Per Scholas is a nonprofit based in New York offering high quality technology education, training, job placement and career development opportunities to people in low-income urban communities. Recently, Sales Manager JJ McCormick was able to pass along his expert knowledge of the IT market and insights from the report to new graduates as the keynote speaker at Per Scholas’ Network Engineer program graduation ceremony.
JJ reflected on his speech; “It’s a great feeling knowing that my company provides me with amazing tools to share with not only employers, but new graduates as well!” The What Employers Want guide gives IT professionals advice on the IT market and how to get ahead in the workforce.

Recently, the Dallas staffing team worked with the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid as part of their dedicated community service initiatives to give back to the city of Dallas and surrounding area.
During their trip to the Buckner Center, the team took part in assembling food care packages and also helped to sort clothing to be used by families in need of a helping hand.
The time spent at the Buckner Center was a great team building exercise as the Dallas team worked closely together to help support their community. Recruiter Griffin Marshall added “I know some co-workers were unsure of what they were getting into so it was great seeing them really get into it and work together as a team”
The employers and job seekers we work with often live and work in the local neighborhood so we want to be a driving force in supporting and giving back to help build a better Dallas. Recruiter Regan Bernard said “It was a very humbling experience and I am proud to work for a company that would sacrifice half a day at the office to give back to our local community.
Our Dallas team participates in many community outreach programs throughout the year. It gives us a chance to connect with the local community while allowing our recruiters and account managers to spend time out of the office and grow together as a team.
