SUCCESS TIPS FROM WOMEN TO WOMEN

Posted on: March 7th, 2017

DeniseTo celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th, this week we’re going to feature 3 successful women in Veredus, a Hays company to talk about their career with us and the challenges and achievements they had during their journey.

Today, you’re going to hear more about Denise Jones, our Area Vice President responsible for the Raleigh and Richmond Offices.

Dan: Can you describe your career with Veredus, a Hays Company, so far?
Denise: For the last 13+ years, I have had the privilege of working with an amazing group of people in Tampa, Fl. (US headquarters) Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA offices. My career with Veredus/Hays has spanned across several different positions. My first role was an IT Recruiter which moved into an IT Account Manager position while in Tampa. Then, in March of 2009, I was promoted to Managing Director and opened the Raleigh, NC office. Recently I moved into an Area Vice President position, where I am responsible for the Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA offices. It has been an incredible experience and a worthwhile career.
I look forward to many more years!

Dan: What has your biggest challenge been and what did you learn from it?
Denise: My biggest career challenge to date has been opening the Raleigh, NC office during the great recession. I faced challenges of limited job openings in the area, no one knew who Veredus was at the time, and we were starting with nothing. The biggest factor was that there was a dream of something great.

Failure was not an option for me. I learned to believe in myself and develop the skills needed to be successful like perseverance, courage, strength, and tenacity. It was my biggest challenge, but also gave me more personal growth and reward than I had ever experienced.

Dan: What advice would you give women starting out their career?
Denise: Do what you love. Passion is the driving force for success. Balance is the key to overall happiness. Be fearless and believe in yourself. There is nothing you cannot accomplish.

Dan: What do you consider your biggest achievement so far?Raleigh Office
Denise: Seeing all my hard work flourish into an office that is on-track to be the 3rd largest in the U.S. I could not have done any of this without building a strong team. I developed 2 strong leaders that have an incredible passion and drive for this business. They share my vision and dream of something great.

Dan: How can women help other women in the workforce?
Denise: We have to support and mentor others. Show other women the way. Help them to find their passion.

It’s amazing to have such an example inside of a company that inspires her team and keeps helping us to grow since day one. Denise, thank you so much for all these years and hard work. We’re lucky to have you!
